Essie Hang up the heels is a jet black with a jade shimmer and fully covers in three coats.
This black is a beautiful solid colour and despite seeing the jade shimmer in the bottle, this unfortunately like many recent Essie shimmers, completely disappears on the nail.
Although this shimmer doesn’t show up in the nail it does still add a extra depth to this black, compared to other solid blacks that do come across as a bit dull, hang up the heels type of black does seem sort of hypnotise you and demands your attention.
The formula for this black sit firmly on the average scale, it’s a little watery but this is hardly noticeable or causes much trouble, the only thing I will say is that you need a good base coat as this black is a stainer!

If you’re read my post before you will know I love showing you all the ways my chosen polish can be part of your life, in more ways than just your fingertips.
Below is everything that would look awesome paired with hang up the heels and everything it has inspired and help create.
Me and my family love wax melts and creating an atmosphere through the sense of smell, if hang up the heels was transformed into a wax melt, this us what I think it would smell like.

Fill your whole room with warm notes of freshly burned cedar-wood and the irresistible aroma of aged parchment and vanilla! A winter fragrance that produces an exceptionally strong throw!
If hang up the heels was to pair with and inspire an outfit I think this modern, classy evening outfit would look awesome with hang up the heels on the fingertips.
A off the shoulder lace, black long dress paired with green and black ankle strap heels and a emerald green suade biker styled Jacket.
A green gem spike statement necklace, a black and green bowed clutch bag and dark green eyeshadow and a bold black cat flick design completes this dramatic evening outfit.
If hang up the heels was to inspire home decor I think this smart bedroom perfectly represents this Essie colour and vibe.
Black geometric flower feature wallpaper paired with a black velvet rose bedding set and a black wire metal, clear celling lamp hanging above.
A stripped black & white perfume bottle feature artwork, black dog figurine with diamond coller feature accent item and a black worn effect rug at the foot of the bed completes this sophisticated bedroom.
Overall Essie- hang up the heels is a beautiful and useful black that has a depth and vibrancy I find other black polishs lack.
If your needing a good, true black I’d would highly recommend this one, it’s a great formulated black that leaves your nails feeling super glossy and sophisticated just remember a good base coat is needed, because of the strong pigment, it like to leave an lasting impression even after you have removed it from your nails!
